There’s a little travel involved to see my father-in-law and his wife, so we don’t see them as often as I’d like.  This past weekend, we got together with them, as well as with my sister-in-law and her family, to celebrate a couple birthdays.  Completely stumped for gift ideas, hubby let me make gifts for both my sister-in-law and mother-in-law.

I put together two birthstone pendants, which turned out fabulous.  The one on the left was for my sister-in-law.  Her husband is an October baby, so his gemstone is pink tourmaline (the alternate to opal).  She gets a July ruby, and both their daughters were born in April, and have diamond as their birthstone.

The one on the right is quite similar!  My father-in-law is another April baby, my mother-in-law gets a June pearl, my hubby is another October tourmaline, then another ruby, and then another April diamond.

I love how the two necklaces ended up being so similar that they match, and that the colours look so good together!
