Saturdays are my favourite! Last Saturday Robyn and I were at First Avenue Public School for their Holiday Craft Fair. They had an amazing snacks table, delicious lunch, crafts for the kids, tasty homemade marshmallows, and of course, us!
The Craft Fair had a surprise for us this week! An extra table was suddenly available. Luckily, we were ready for it. We grabbed our extra supplies and had it set up in no time!
Having two table was wonderful! We loved giving even more options to our guests, and having extra space to display the items we love.
Our next show is Crafts for Christmas at Rideau High School on Saturday, December 12th, 10am-2pm. It’s a fundraiser for the concert band, and a great place to cross off the “nice”s from your list and get a little something extra for yourself (hey, there’s parties to go to!) Can’t wait to see you there!
Trish and I had a great time at the Tudor Hall this past Sunday. The show had a great turn-out, and we got to meet and chat with lots of great new people. We shared our cozy table with Carolyn from Maidenstar, and it was great to have such a wide array of jewellery available.
It’s hard to believe we’re halfway through our festive appearances already. Next up is the First Avenue Holiday Craft Fair on November 28. Get a head start on your holiday shopping and browse the 30+ local artists and vendors. Entry is free and there will be activities for the kids as well as door prizes and home made goodies. This event is organized by the First Avenue School Council and all proceeds raised go to this organization. We would love to see you there!
Never doubt that we here at Drakestail love to get out and meet all of you. Not only are we available for in-home jewellery parties, we’re also adding two more Ottawa-based events to our calendar!
The first new addition to our holiday event calendar is the First Avenue Holiday Craft Fair on November 28. Get a head start on your holiday shopping and browse the 30+ local artists and vendors. Entry is free and there will be activities for the kids as well as door prizes and home made goodies. This event is sponsored by First Avenue School Council and all proceeds raised go to this organization.
The second fabulous event we’ve added is the first annual Crafts for Christmas craft fair at Rideau High School on December 12. You’ll find lots of great locally made items perfect for everyone on your Christmas list. You might even find a little something for you to tuck in your own stocking, too! This event is a fundraiser for the Rideau High School Concert Band. Join us for a great cause and check off all the “nice” folks on your shopping list at the same time.
Of course, don’t miss a chance to see us, along with Maidenstar, at Tudor Hall this coming Sunday, November 22.
Until then, we’ll be lovingly creating some great new items just in time for the shows. Want to see what we’ve got in store? Then come on up and see us!
This past weekend was double the fun! Drakestail Jewellery got accepted into two craft shows on the same date, so Trish and I (Robyn) each went to a different show. Both were a great success.
Trish got to participate in the inaugural Something New Edinburgh show and had a great time. The food was delicious, the vibe was great, and it was very well attended. Definitely a show we want to be part of next year!
I got to participate in the All Saints CHS Craft and Gift Sale. This show is an old favourite – this is my fourth year attending, and it was as fun as ever. I had some lovely neighbours, some returning and some new. The parking lot was full most of the day and folks were parking out on the street to come on in. I even had a lovely student volunteer, Matt, watch my booth while I got a bit of my own Christmas shopping done. And a cheesecake, I also got a delicious cheesecake. 🙂
A big thanks to the organizers for both the shows!
I love trying new things, and this past Sunday I had the opportunity to try a new show!
Arts in the Park is put on by the Stittsville Village Association. It’s an annual event, showcasing artists, artisans, and authors, and also includes a few local food vendors.
This was my first year participating. I arrived early, and picked out a shady spot under a lovely maple tree. There were loads of visitors long before the show even started, as well as lots of joggers and cyclists passing through the park. There was a light breeze, some light clouds that burned away to reveal a blue sky by the end of the afternoon, and a fantastic, relaxed atmosphere.
My neighbours were great company, our visitors were lovely to chat with, and I had a wonderful time. I was two spaces away from an Asian taco cart. The smell was irresistible, and they were absolutely delicious. That was a fantastic coincidence!! Arts in the Park is on my list of shows to apply for again next year!
Now that my spring shows are out of the way, I’ll be turning my focus back to all our dear fans online. Expect to see some new goodies on Etsy, and of course check back for new articles, information, and fun.
I’ve had a great spring so far, with two Drakestail events already done and a third coming up soon.
First, we kicked off spring with MAC Fair: Bloom edition. MAC Fair is a pleasure to attend. It’s incredibly well organized, there’s always a great mix of vendors, and a great atmosphere. I never come away empty-handed, either.
This past Sunday was Ravenswing, which is hands down my favourite outdoor show. The weather was glorious, which makes a great show even better! I didn’t have much of an opportunity to walk around this time, but I was near the music tent and got treated to some great music and entertainment.
Coming up next, on Sunday, June 7th, will be Arts in the Park. This is an established show but it will be my first time participating. It will be an outdoor show, featuring more than 70 professional and amateur artists, writers, culinary specialists, musicians, and other creators. They also host a variety of performances, special activities for kids, and fundraising snack sales. There will definitely be something for everyone! Arts in the Park 2015 takes place at Village Square Park, in Stittsville, in the west end of Ottawa, from noon until 5pm. Come join me and explore this fun show!
