Grid walls and goodies for upcoming shows

I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter weekend.  I enjoyed the time off from my day job, and the chance to get together with some extended family.  Those events never seem to happen quite often enough, and with several little ones around now, it’s fascinating to see how they have grown since the last holiday meal.

I got to spend my holiday Monday getting some things done.  First up, I got to visit a new store in town.  Roy Sims Display is in the east end of the city, and they have, as you might imagine, quite a good selection of display materials.  They were extremely helpful, giving suggestions and helpful tips, and even so far as to letting me put some items in my car to make sure they fit before I bought them.  I was very happy to give them my business, and came away with some grid wall panels that will be added to my show displays.

I hit up a few more stores (as well as a sushi place for lunch) and picked up some more items to make some DIY displays.  Once my tablecloths come in, I’ll be wrapping some nesting boxes in matching fabric and they’ll be perfect for displaying tiaras, headbands, and other hair accessories.  I really can’t wait to set up and see how it all looks together!  My new table display, complete with the grid walls, will be making its debut at the MAC Fair: BLOOM, coming up on May 10th.  I’ll be breaking out the new canopy on May 25th at Ravenswing.  Come by and see it for yourself!

Upcoming appearances

We’ve both been extra busy these days. Here in Ottawa, it’s because Drakestail Jewellery has some upcoming appearances. I’ve been in my studio, working away on some exciting new pieces that will be coming to our two upcoming shows.

All Saints CHS Craft Fair & Fundraiser

First up, on Saturday, November 2nd, I’ll be at the All Saints Catholic High School’s annual craft fair.  We were last there in 2011, and I’m excited to be going back and support some great causes.  In the words of the organizer:

” This will be the 12th year that All Saints Catholic High School hosts this fundraiser with funds raised going toward the support of Grands & Friends, a group of local women who are raising funds for African Grandmothers who are taking care of millions of orphaned children due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Sub-Saharan Africa. Funds and dry goods collected at the door will support the school’s Christmas Hamper project in conjunction with the Kanata Food Cupboard and Victoria’s Quilts for cancer patients.
The fair features over 140 tables of treasures handmade by Crafters & Artisans from Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. A supervised child’s play area, café, musical performances and raffle tables are just some of the added features of this event.”

MAC Fair

Following a few weeks later, I’ll be sharing a table with Maiden Star Jewellery at the MAC Fair.  The annual craft fair at Immaculata High School will be on Saturday, November 23rd, and features 120 handmade artists, door prizes, face painting, and more.

As I said before, I’ve been busy making some great designs for the fairs.  Here’s a sneak peek of what will be available.  Which one would you pick up?  Would it be a gift for someone special, or a special gift for you?

Sending all our love to you – revamped shipping costs

After uploading some new items to our Etsy store and then taking a look around, I noticed that the shipping costs on all the items were pretty inconsistent.  I’m pleased to say that I spent a bit of time this morning and straighened that out!  All of our items will ship worldwide, and buying multiple items means significant savings on shipping costs.

While we’d love to meet all of you and say thank you face-to-face, it’s impossible to jet around the world to do so. (I wish!)  However, if you live in the Ottawa/Gatineau region we’d love to do just that.  Use the coupon code LOCAL2OTTAWA and we’ll hand-deliver your purchase.
